The company was formed from a group of ballet fans in 1974 with the aim of presenting traditional, classical ballet in a humorous, entertaining form, parodying it along the way (all the dancers are male).

The comic impact is achieved by spotlighting and exaggerating the weak points and absurdities of classical dance. The fact that every role is danced by a man – in the course of which male bodies teetering on pointed toes imitate swans, water sprites, princesses in love and wizened old ladies – tends to emphasize rather than ridicule the spirit of dance as a form of artistic expression. 
The dancers end up giving a genuine choreographic fireworks display in which they exploit to the maximum virtuoso academic classical dance opportunities, although they do have the chance of supplementing them with the occasional unexpected step…
