LORD OF THE DANCE
In truth the performance, dubbed a magical adventure by the Los Angeles Times, is a fabulous journey through time based on Irish folklore, a classical tale of Good versus Evil.
As the story unfolds the Little Spirits help the Lord of the Dance protect people from Don Dorcha, the Dark Lord, while the audience gets a full taste of the magic of Irish and rhythmic Celtic dance.
Lord of the Dance has enjoyed unparalleled world success since it started out in 1996. The show’s creator and artistic director is Michael Flatley, who launched his professional career in the 1980s. Flatley himself danced the title role 400 times until June 1998, and this placed him in the Guinness Book Of World Records as the best paid dancer, the person with the legs insured for the greatest sum and the world’s fastest feet.
It is conservatively estimated that the shows have attracted approximately 100 million viewers globally.
